Multimedia events must be well scripted. You neee a writer equally fluent in several different forms of media.
What qualities make for a multimedia scrip strong
enough to anchor a spectacular event?
Extreme fluency. Rich imagination. A generous gift for language.
There should be complete mastery of tone and pacing: the sound of
momentousness conveyed, but quickly and lightly, not overdone.
And a sense of scale! The ability to raise one's game several notches,
shooting for Bigness, a sense that this moment is very special--but by a steady professional hand.
A must: familiarity with
common application
platforms, like Powerpoint, Final Cut Pro, Final Draft, Dreamweaver, and Flash.
I've written successful meeting and conference openers for Gillette,
Converse, Arrow, the National Air & Space Museum, the State
of Kentucky, and other clients. Every job has drawn heavily on my
production background in music, live theater, filmmaking, radio, and journalism.
