In Their Own Words

Sometimes (as here) a new product is so revolutionary in concept or design that the entire story can be told through interview clips. One of my strengths is the documentary-style marketing video, created entirely from testimonials and case studies, with a touch of written narration when needed.

"IF THESE WALLS COULD TALK"

OPENING TEASERS

ROBERT FINES
Thinwall has become one of the basic technologies we're taking to market to grow our business. It's one of the best examples we have of process design and product technology to deliver cost-outto the market. It's exciting.

MISHA JACBOSON
Thinwall technology is a technology that GE Plastics is very, very comfortable with.

MIKE MORRISEY
Clearly that's the way to go for the future. You get improved quality, improved performance, at a lower price.

MUSIC: STRONG CUE

GRAPHIC TITLE BUILD: "AdvantageNext: If These Walls Could Talk"

NARRATION:
If these walls could talk...they'd tell you how thin and strong they are...how they represent higher performance material, advanced aesthetics, and huge benefits in cost savings and productivity.  These walls use Thinwall technology by GE Plastics, and they are the leading edge of a shift toward a new generation of engineering thermoplastics that promises to make bulky, commodity-based moldings a thing of the past.

JEFF PEMBROKE
Well actually, Thinwall technology was pioneered in small portable consumer electronics applications, such as cell phones, notebook computers. And we think the concept applies to a wide variety of market segments, such as
kitchen electrics, floor care, personal care, and major appliances.

NARRATION:
In the fast-changing consumer markets, the key to success lies in cost savings. Through a combination of tooling design, higher performance materials, and innovative processing technology, GE's Thinwall technology can actually offer customers a lower total cost per part. Black and Decker is a case in point. They wanted to market an iron of one hundred dollar quality, but price it in the thirty-to-forty dollar range.

And there were some other things too--we were looking for better aesthetics.  We wanted a higher gloss plastic.  We wanted a whiter plastic.  We wanted something that looked top-end, high quality, from a material standpoint. And we knew the commodity plastics weren't going to supply that. But based on the price pressures, we were really kind of boxed into going into a commodity plastic.

And then when Kurt said, "Hey, Thinwall, total part cost equal or better," we said, "Great. We need to really learn more about it."  And that's when we said let's go up to the PPD Center up in Pittsfield and let's learn more about it. From Black & Decker's standpoint, this program was a huge
success.  We've improved our quality. We have a better looking iron with more features and a lower price point; and our sales are going up.

JEFF PEMBROKE
That's exactly what AdvantageNext is. AdvantageNext was kind of--we took a look at the success we had with Black & Decker and we said: if we could bottle and sell this, we would really have something fantastic.

GRAPHIC TITLE (SUPERED): Kurt Weiss Thinwall Marketing Manager, GE Plastics

KURT WEISS
Oh, I'm passionate about Thinwall technologies.  The reason why I took the job that I have, I see no limits in terms of the applications that we can use it in.  Because of the fact that I can provide higher quality, more structural, better-performing parts at a lower cost than the parts that they're producing today out of commodity materials.

NARRATION:
GE Plastics' next generation solutions are the ultimate solution to an array of challenges facing consumer manufacturers.

With AdvantageNext and Thinwall technology, GE is leading the way into a new century of opportunity--a ne millennium of productivity for our OEMs and value for their customers.  If these walls could talk...what would they say?

MISHA JACOBSON
If these walls could talk, they'd say that the rules have changed.  And that is really what GE Plastics wants to do with the AdvantageNext program.  We want to help change the rules.  Let's stop looking at material cost and let's start taking a look at the total cost picture.

KURT WEISS
If these walls could talk, I'm sure what they'd say is, "there's no reason why I can't perform at the thinner wall as opposed to the standard wall.  Thin is in."

JEFF PEMBROKE
If these walls could talk, they would say, "we provide a lot more for less."

NARRATION:
More for less...more value--at lower cost. Impossible?  But that's the implicit promise of Thinwall technology and the AdvantageNext program.  At GE Plastics, we're on a mission-- pushing the boundaries of the possible.

And we do it every day.
